September 17, 2020 - Medium ruby with a light violet rim. Nose cherry, blackberry, rose petal and sap. Velvety and dry on the palate. Much more fruit than I can remember from my last bottle. Tannins are rounded. Alcohol is medium with a bit of warmth towards the end. Flavors of darker fruit arrive. Blackcurrant, forest notes of soil, wild mushroom. The finish is long and enticing. Charming bottle. Probably the best I've had so far.

I can say now that the bottle I had ten months ago was not in good shape. This is a totally different bottle.

January 16, 2020 - Nose of roses, mushrooms and soil. On the palate, it is very dry and very tertiary. Acidity is high. Alcohol is medium. Grip is still powerful.
I don't see this developing any further, there's not enough fruit at this point. It was better in 2016. I may be a year or so late. Decant and drink up.

June 19, 2018 - I loved aged nebbiolo. Nose of crushed red fruit, spices, roses, sweet herbs...On the palate, excellent acidity, with loads of red fruit, maybe a touch high toned and slightly thin, but very soft tannin and lovely density. Very compelling.

September 16, 2016 - Darker than the 2012 we had the other day. Potent nose, very red both in aromas and flavors. Sappy. Light weight but with perceivable tannins. Good grip still after 15 years. This is a lovely bottle of Barbaresco.

March 26, 2014 - Decanted for 4 hours before dinner. Ruby with the slightest bit of tawniness. Oh my, a totally seductive, complex nose of rose, dried cherries, and earth. Typical light weight, intricate flavors, cranberry acidity and slightly grippy, insistent tannins. This could benefit from at least 5 more years in bottle, but just lovely now. Quite a shocking contrast to the Cigliuti Serraboella we tasted alongside it-so much more perfumed and elegant.
