December 4, 2023 - The wine is now over the peak. 10 years ago it was very interesting, lots of roasted coffee and fruit, still very black color. Now it has turned to a more madeira style wine, it has shed a lot of tannins and lost that nice coffee flavor. I would avoid to buy except for collection reasons. The story of this bottling remains fascinating.

July 15, 2023 - Always a treat and a very special wine by any measure. There is a rusticity and a mouth feel that is closer to wine than sweet wine, as well as a piercing acidity that will carry it for many years to come. Tastes many decades younger. Coating but not sweet, despite the molasse aromas. Very enjoyable and an obvious “pirate” wine candidate to any blind tasting!

April 18, 2023 - London Wine Event (Hide, London): A good 4 years since we had this last and a special way in so many ways. From the story, the age, the style and of course its beautiful rustic feel. Rich and soft oxidative, nutty, dark and with proper acidity that keeps the wine from feeling heavy. Impressive longevity here and we doubt this wine will ever feel old and will always serve as a great dinner finisher albeit objectively it will never win miss complexity or miss elegance in any pageant. Always an experience. 92-93

April 2, 2023 - Similar to a port on the nose and attack, but a much different and nice finish. More tobacco than sweet. Was happy to have the opportunity to try such an old wine.

March 2, 2023 - This was a treat, I expected it to be thick and syrupy, but it was not. The texture was similar to a Regular dry wine, but it was clean, refreshing, packed full of flavor and so well-balanced. Really nicely done.
