December 11, 2021 - The 1995 and 1996 La Mission, served side by side, had a lot to say about the inherent consistency of LMHB and about the vintages themselves. The 1996 offered a beautiful nose, full of black and blue fruit, wildflowers, warm earth, leather, and unsmoked cigar, perfectly balanced on the palate and very approachable now.

December 2, 2021 - Interesting to compare the 1988 to the 1996 and 2005 side by side. You can see how the level of ripeness and body increases in each decade but the wine retains a certain strictness and classicism. The 1988 is fully mature with tertiary notes and noticeable pyrazines so make sure it goes with food. The 1996 was the winner tonight (the 2005 was corked) with an increased fruit level, yet still some youthful tannins. There is excellent aromatic complexity and length to these wines. Too bad that the prices of this have been pushed up by the Chateau, but the quality is there.

November 19, 2021 - Decanted little over an hour
was a wonderful Bordeaux - cedar, smokey earth on the nose and gorgeous but balanced fruit with soft fine tannins and medium to long finish

still improving with last glass at 3 hours

September 19, 2021 - 96/10 side by side. With 45 minutes in the decanter the fruit starts to flesh out and show depth. Fairly classic La Mish aromas of earthy funk, plum, cedar and pencil shavings. Still slightly stern on the palate but there a beautiful elegance that I really like. Better in 5+ years as the structure fully integrates.

September 9, 2021 - Epic Bordeaux for an Epic Birthday!; 9/1/2021-9/12/2021 (Paris & Bordeaux): Sometimes you get a wine in just a really nice spot. This bottle was that to me. It seemed like everything was very well balanced. A vintage that isn’t the house favorite as it was picked on the earlier side when the vines had ripeness and right before rain was forecast and the rain ended up being short and followed by some weeks of sunshine. Still that slightly herbal quality and maybe a background of black fruits. Does not feel like a vintage that will last forever, but is one that is drinking really well now.
