October 23, 2021 - Nose was a dried strawberry mixed with earth, mushroom, and decaying leaves. There's a purity to the red fruit that is really appealing. Palate has a weightlessness yet the flavors carry through the finish. Still showing some of the 2005 structure, but the wine just feels effortless.

October 24, 2020 - This is just great. A style I love. The color is light and the wine is transparent. The nose is filled with crushed stones, purple flowers and pure red fruits. Some stems are apparent. One can literally smell the vineyard in the nose. Light bodied with medium plus intensity and very long for a Bourgogne. Really presses my buttons. Gotten so much better with age - I feel this is in the zone right now. Wish this domain was still active as the style is just perfect for my tastes. (91)

May 28, 2020 - There is no wine like Jacky Truchot, and that is one of the main reason why the prices of his wines going through the roof after his retirement. This 2005 Bourgogne Rouge of is the last vintage of Jacky Truchot.

Light and elegant without the depth. Normally, Jacky Truchot wines speaks loudly on terroir, but this is somewhat subtle, at most a mild Chambolle and Morey St Denis backbone. Delicate bouquet of strawberries, gentle ripe red berries and mild wood. Smooth. Maturing nicely.

March 7, 2020 - This wine has improved dramatically with some bottle age. It’s all about purity, intensity and rustic goodness. Pretty impressive for a Bourgogne. It needs two to three hours to open up and reveal all it has in the tank. I love the pecante feel on the palate. Impressive. (91)

November 10, 2019 - Kristin and Colin's 30th (Chicago, IL): The nose definitely shows the lighter touch that I would have expected. I served this blind to many an experienced taster, and Rayas was a pretty popular guess as well. It certainly has that lighter touch, but the fruit is pretty dark and the tannins still feel surprisingly grippy. I'll give the next bottle a few more years, I think.

October 17, 2016 - This has gained weight. Starting to show maturity, beautiful nose displaying ripe red fruits, agree with Cote D’Or on stewed tomato in very positive way, also cherry, a hint of rose, mushroom, cedar/stem, iron like mineral and noticeable development of sous bois. Medium concentration, very mineral driven palate, slightly stewed cherry driven palate impression, good acidity and medium finish. Not the most complex and layered palate, but pretty impressive for a Bourgogne. Will get lost in a large event. Need to focus. Best showing!

September 22, 2016 - Continues to open up with this bottle being more expressive than the last while sliding into the red fruit end of the spectrum with some red apple peel element; still with excellent balance though perhaps a bit less depth, and soft med/med- tannins. Probably on its ideal drinking plateau right now but no hurry.

    April 16, 2016 - PopnPour, tasted over 4 hrs
-almost murky med red with mild clearing/bricking
-a bit restrained subtle Burg funk cherry stewed tomato
-med acidity, med/med- weight but substantially dense mid-palate with faint black cherry and earth, not a lot of complexity, med/med- tannins
-not flashy but wholesome well-balanced and proper
