May 1, 2021 - Truly exceptional Chianti from the highly regarded 2015 vintage shows wonderful oak integration. Deep ruby in the glass.
Bold and harmonized aromatics show black cherry, plum, raspberry, earth, mint, tar and cracked, worn leather.
Palate shows structure with firm, chewy tannins, bright acidity and dry, medium body.
Flavours evolve from earth, herbs and black fruit to a wonderful raspberry liquorice.
Flavours are long and powerful.

February 8, 2021 - Wildcard Wines - Tiplers Blind Tasting Group (Grapes & Grains, Temecula, CA): Tasted blind. Correctly identified as Chianti Classico Riserva.
Unfortunately not as good an experience as my last bottle of this wine. Perhaps shutting down? Reticent aromas of black cherry and plum rather than the expressive Twizzlers aroma from before. But the rest of the wine was the same. Dusty, dry tannin, and high acidity bode well for the long term structure. Classic Chianti notes of sandalwood, leather, tobacco, lavender, dried herb and black licorice are ever-present. Decanting for 8+ hours didn't seem to make a dent in unlocking the best in this wine — something for the cellar.
