December 14, 2013 - At BBR December tasting Singapore. From Magnum. Medium garnet. Pleasant nose of red fruit with roses and some spices. On the palate rather sinewy and acidic though preventing a higher note.

August 24, 2013 - Pre-Op Drinks at Kel's (Kelvin and Joyce's Place, Bishan): A rather old school Burg, a bit on the rustic side, but pretty enjoyable. The nose was on the edge of smelling over-developed, with plenty of savoury soy sauce and bloody game meat aromas, along with some balsamic notes, and then red fruited scents and a little hint of dried flowers trailing behind. A rather dirty, very earthy bouquet, but quite pleasant in its own right if you like your older Burgs. The palate had a savoury, almost salty tone on its attack, with chicken stock layered over matured flavours of sour plums and stewed prunes, before it opened up surprisingly into a round, fleshy midpalate with a nice flush of more youthful red cherry notes behind. A thick-set, slightly tarry finish ended with a touch of loamy soil and another lovely burst of red fruit. In many ways, this was a very mature tasting wine, yet it still had good depth and nice juicy freshness to it. However, one does get a sense that the structural integrity of the wine is just starting to slip now. While still eminently drinkable, this would have been better a couple of years back.

June 14, 2013 - An nteresting bring in that I met this producer at Becky Wasserman`s home in Burgundy in 1993 and was immediately drawn to his somewhat rough and yet ready crafting of red Burgs that were built for the long run; this one was generally pleasing giving up some wild, tart, spicy and tangy red and black fruit notes finishing on the dry side with the tannins still untamed.

May 13, 2013 - Drinking wonderfully now with a core of fresh red and dark fruit augmented by developed leathery, earthy and other savoury flavours. Very fragrant, polished and perfectly balanced with a silken texture and tannins nicely integrated.

December 27, 2012 - A nice surprise, very elegant with none of the ripeness and heaviness I've found in a lot of 97s. Earthy and sous bois elements framing red and dark fruited flavours, texturally polished and very fragrant.

April 1, 2011 - A little tight and unyielding initially, but opens with air to show a lovely combination of fresh dark fruited flavours, savoury earthiness and touches of leather and spice. Still quite structured and youthful with a spine of grainy tannins and surprisingly bright acids. Very nice, but I'll wait on other bottles for some time.

March 28, 2010 - Broke my rule and drank after deciding in mylast tasting that it needed more time. It will get another couple of years this time before touching the three remaining bottles. I believe this is excellent and gets MUCH better wtih age.

November 19, 2009 - Interesting... beautiful right when opened... and still great at the end, but got a bit dry. A distinct feeling that this wine has a lot more time in it and will be getting better in a couple of years.
