March 2, 2022 - Double decanted off its sediment and poured a little over an hour later. A great showing. The bouquet features violet, currants, rose and plum. Tannins are nicely resolved at this stage, with an abundance of dark fruit taking center stage on the palate. Hints of spice in the lingering finish. We have two remaining which I will plan to open within the next year, maybe two.

January 30, 2021 - Decanted off its sediment and poured. Aromas of black currant, leather, blackberry, rose petals and plum. Still has a bit of a tannic bite. Black fruit and spice flavors. Good underlying acid.

September 20, 2018 - Double decanted off its sediment. Violet and floral elements with dark fruit overtones. Cassis and lavender with a long finish. Tame tannins. In a really great spot, and very pretty.

March 19, 2018 - I’m kind of on a Baconbrook roll here having tried the 05 and 06 recently. The pizza was just delivered and my wife doesn’t drink cabs any more so it’s up to me to consume the big boys by myself or with friends.

Opened not decanted. Tightly wound up with restrained fruit and tight tannins. A touch of clarity at the edge of the glass. Black cherry notes with a dried cherry and drying finish. Good. Needs a decent decant.

One thought after opening the 04, 05 and 06: these show no evidence of decline and have at least another 5 years until they peak. Consistently well made with a deft hand showing the same profile. Two thumbs up to Cary Gott.

January 21, 2018 - This opened up tight with grainy tannins and took a good hour or two to open up.
This paired very well with filet. Smooth, with dark red fruit and spice.
