December 19, 2019 - Christmas Winps (La Trompette, Chiswick): 7/9. Bright medium ruby/garnet, pale garnet rim. Nose is quite developed, mulch, undergrowth, underlying red fruit. Medium bodied, quite rich on initial entry - mulch, undergrowth again - lovely soft tannins, then vibrant acidity carries a pure, long raspberry fruited finish. Really lovely, drinking beautifully.

May 21, 2017 - 6/9. Good cork, minimal soaking. Medium ruby/garnet core, pale garnet rim. Complex, haunting nose - plum, floral perfume, slight suggestion of soil and undergrowth. Medium bodied, attractive plum fruit, florals, soft tannins, balanced acidity - this has decent depth and expands nicely into a very good length, harmonious finish showing a note of soil as it warms a touch. Excellent, mature, no hurry.

May 7, 2013 - Brief Notes from Grand Sichuan: Dark berries, some brambly forest, herbal notes on the nose. Medium-plus body. Dark cassis. Not at all a typical Chambolle; no softness, big, dark, ripe; a little bit of strange funky quality on the nose.

May 7, 2013 - Brought by Michael. Deep on the nose and somewhat murky, but a core of bright primary fruit shows through: blueberry and raspberry with a citrus zest streak - dark berries and spice. A little more burly on the palate. Nice fruit and it knitted together some with time: blueberry and spice. Smooth tannins. Consensus was that this bottle underperformed - not easy to see the Chambolle in this - it's more rustic. One might even think NSG. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15/20.

11/1/2005 (link)(Barthod Ghislaine Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras) Medium ruby-red - looks lovely in the glass. The nose is very tight, hints of marzipan, red fruit and a high-toned estery note - not that nice. It's a concentrated wine, but equally there's plenty of (currently) astringent tannin that has a trace of bitterness about it. The acidity is also on quite a high level. Returning after an hour there is a little more balance, both the tannin and the acidity are in more harmony with the fruit - I must say though that it never quite became 'charming'.
