June 21, 2015 - Nicely balanced wine and drinking great now. Nice pleasant nose and a palate of black fruits with earth and mineral notes. All balanced with oak and just enough acidity to keep it refreshing on the long finish. This is what Douro wines are all about.

July 1, 2013 - Pleasant nose; tart red fruit and oak.. Tannins noticeable but very soft and integrated with the acid level. Palate again exhibits the tart red fruit, yet old world austere rather than fruit forward. Medium full body. Some sediment thrown in btl. Delicious wine and great QPR at the $20 closeout sale. Still drinking well, with a few years to go.

December 4, 2011 - Dark purple. Sweet, port like notes domiate the nose and in the glass, but with some earthy soil and gravel notes. The acid backbone and power of this wine is more subdued than a bottle I had a couple of years ago, but quite an interesting wine. Plenty of fruit still left, at least in this cellar-stored bottle.

May 30, 2010 - Starts with the beautiful color, pitch dark and purple. Candy blackberry nose, very exotic. I insist, very exotic nose of dark wild berry and candy, plus hints of smoke. On the palate, a perfect harmony of dark fruit of good intensity and quality, plus generous structure, beautiful complexity, great acidity from the third quarter on, and gorgeous finish that brings out the fruit and adorns it with subtle black pepper and smokiness. Very generous, exotic and worthwhile.
