October 13, 2023 - A sort of underwhelming Brunello overall (although given the price at just $33 this remains a decent buy). There are interesting notes, such as hydrocarbons and underwood, however it took some time for the wine to open up and even after that the wine remains very austere. The day after there are notes of Amaro and manure. The brown color already betrays some premature development/oxidation. I would be skeptical to invest in this particular vintage from this producer.
April 6, 2023 - PnP from a 375. Light garnet, traces of orange, also like a campfire about to burn out. Red fruit, spice. Decent weight, not heavy at all, but showing nice structure. Should go well with the steak that is on the grill.
November 21, 2022 - Ready to go PNP but subtly beautiful next day.
October 13, 2022 - Decanted for 1 hour before opening. Notes of cherry, plum, tobacco/smoke, soil and subtle oak. Medium acid, a well integrated wine with a medium plus finish.
December 23, 2021 - Lovely garnet colour with a nose of black cherry, raspberry, smoke, cedar, rosemary, and leather. Lots of fresh fruit on the palate, but some lovely tertiary notes too, plus warmth from the oak. It has a tart acidity. Long, warm finish.
September 2, 2021 - Poor showing. Definitely some inconsistency compared to last bottle which was open for business. Overall just a bit pinched and austere. Maybe in a sleepy phase? Tough to tell.
May 2, 2021 - Had parts of two bottles at a dinner party. Both were just opened as needed. Translucent light ruby. Small nose of bright red fruit and not much else. Deceptively easy to drink. Mild tannins that did not get in your way. Some leather, cloves that accompanied the red fruit and cherries. Not complex but surprisingly delicious. Not sure how this would age in the long run but right now it was a nice pairing with salmon and grain. So different from my experience with La Serena.
April 21, 2021 - badly corked. so corked my glass was corked.
March 8, 2021 - Prop - ud
March 5, 2021 - Ready to go with a short decant.
Pours dark ruby. On the palate, cherry, earth, the slightest hint of oak, leading some strong tannins that are nevertheless fine grained and pleasant. Can go for a while but no shame drinking now.
