August 4, 2022 - Half bottle that spent an hour in the decanter. Garnet center, light tawny edge. Candied black cherry fruit, rising tobacco and orange peel as it aerated. Light in the mouth, earthy, blacker fruit in the background, moderately tannic. Not too closed or brutal to asses now, but its steady improvement and sweetening in the glass reinforces that it is still very early days for this base cuvée.

June 18, 2022 - Burlotto Barolo Tasting + X (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Way more approachable than 2017. Good depth, beautiful fruit, good balance. Potential for 5+ years. Good Barolo. 90-91

May 13, 2022 - A great barolo, which drinks well now, but which really requires 5-10 years to really show what it has in store.
A beginner might not really appreciate this wine, but iif you like wine, you will probably realize that this wine has a lot in store. One can really sense the potential in the fruit. It has a purity in the fruit which I do not think I have sensed in another Barolo.
My fourth wine from Burlotto. A great producer in Piemonte.

November 24, 2021 - I was hoping to catch this in a young exuberant phase but it seems to be exiting that. It still shows plenty of promise and is enjoyable and even opens up a bit over the course of dinner. This seems like a wine that will always be good but a few years may find it turning outward again.

October 25, 2021 - 91-92. Out of 375ml and this still needed a couple hours just to open up. Serious wine that needs time! How long will I have to wait for the big brothers?

On PNP: Big red cherry fruit, cinnamon, alcohol
With 30 minute: big ripe cherry, some cinnamon, less alcohol. More balance, freshness.
After 2 hours: Fresh, big dark red cherry, bitter cherry tannin. With more air, the fruit is even redder and sweeter. Cherry fruit roll up. Cinnamon heat has mostly disappeared.
