  July 17, 2014 - Nose seems over-the-hill, with notes of burnt twigs, campfire smoke, black fruit, and orange peel. Palate is delicious: easy-drinking, refreshing, juicy, and zesty. Flavours of orange juice, orange zest, and blackberry, with notes of clove, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, cranberry, and strawberry. Has complexity that pleads to be sipped, and a taste that demands to be glugged. Whichever way it's drunk, it's utterly delightful.

  July 17, 2014 - Best's Great Western Dinner with Justin Purser (The Tea Room, City Wine Shop, Melbourne): Nearly exact to how I remember the '87 I tried last year. Lots of very fine sediment in the glass. Transparent ruby red with slight hints of brick orange at the rim. Savoury aroma dominated by a smoky, almost peaty scent. A hint of violets and prunes in there also. Probably a little overpowered by the food, as it's a very delicate wine nearing the end of it's life. Still, very complex flavours hanging on.
