December 4, 2021 - I know its too young to open but wanted to try one. On the nose, it was a beautiful bouquet of perfuming dried strawberry and rose pedal, reminding me of a classy Chanel scent. On the palate, all I can recall was mouth drying tannin. After 12h decant, the nose had toned down a bit. The palate did not improve. I am not opening another one for 5 years.

December 3, 2021 - Shows very well. Nice mixed of softer red fruited entry with fine powerful tannins on the backend. Lovely mix of white pepper spice with the red reds. Pepper notes are strong—but inviting. Really like this. I suspect with soften and integrate with time.

November 15, 2021 - Darn, I did not like this as much as many of my favorite tasters did. It came across as plush and soft, almost too easygoing.

August 29, 2021 - Full bodied, with chewy tannic structure. Floral and spice driven aromas, kirsch. Violet inner aromas support raspberry on the palate. Finish is relatively short, with a medicinal quality. Acidity feels medium-low. No oak.

Like the other Halcon wines I've tried, it feels somewhat four-square without ideal lift/energy in the middle. Yet also there is plenty of structure and stuffing for evolution, and the winemaking is clean & direct.

    Drink with decant or hold.

May 17, 2021 - Lovely aromatic nose of red and black berries, white pepper, strong blood orange notes and sage. Dense somewhat sappy fruit on the palate, with fantastic spicy nuance and slight bitter tannins. A bit one dimensional on the finish but this is being picky. Really great stuff here. I can't think of a CA Grenache that has more provencial spice and herbal character. 92-93
