July 9, 2020 - Sour flavor. I don't think this was Premox. I have had this wine before some years ago and it was better. 80 is not great vintage but I was expecting more.
November 18, 2017 - 1980 was not a great year but this wine over performs. Rich, honeysuckle, slightly oxidized and musky and very complex. Very tertiary in nature. If you are a California chardonnay person you will hate this. I decanted it and it took about 1/2 and hour to come around. However, it faded quickly and when I revisited it about 2 hours later it was gone. At it's apex it was excellent.
June 21, 2014 - A bit disappointing in that it showed more like a generic old, albeit very good white Burg than it did as a fine old CC. Rich and with some fat, and the essence of stony mature Chardonnay. Nice, but not a transcendent bottle by any means.
December 24, 2012 - this was wonderful. surprisingly still fresh, with bracing acidity, a touch of nutty secondary notes, and some (not unbalanced) toasty oak.
June 14, 2012 - What a beautiful bottle. Still showing real complexity with smoke, a very light touch of caramel and old wood. Wet leaf, honey and some old apple. A hint of pineapple on the palate with some lemon. There's an incredible acidity kicking on the finish. Subtle underlying minerality (like water on galet).
Truly elegant with a surprising freshness at that age. Really great stuff.
April 27, 2009 - Deep, almost golden color. No primary fruit left. Beeswax, petrol(!) on the nose. Medium bodied plus, and rather intense. However, some oxidization, lacks complexity, and probably on its way down. Interesting, though.
March 22, 2009 - Intense nutty flavours, dried tropical fruit. Very nice from a mediocre vintage.
