January 27, 2024 - Another fine showing for this birth year wine for the birthday boy. Based on my experience with the prior bottle, I gave the wine time for its initial mustiness to blow off, revealing gentle cassis notes, sweet spice and leather. Smooth, medium-length finish.

February 25, 2023 - How do you score a wine this old? Not much tannin left, but still a fair amount of acidity. Red raspberries with very little oxidative character, bramble, saddle leather and blue cheese—And clean, clean, clean! Loved it. What a trip.

January 24, 2022 - In great shape, far better than a 1972 from Cali has any right to be. A touch of barnyard quickly blew off, revealing a clean and balanced beauty, with faded cassis, leather and cigar box flavors, sweet tannins on the medium-length finish. Pretty close to a Graves IMO.

December 8, 2019 - Sunday afternoon wines (Chicago, IL): A little bretty on the nose, but this is a wine that is still alive, even if it's just mostly hanging on at this point. Beautiful red fruit, a generous amount of herbaceousness, and the relatively low 12.5% alcohol here gives this wine a lovely coolness. I'd still prefer drinking this than the modern Napa monsters.

September 17, 2019 - Opened easily considering the age of the bottle. The wine is very old and very very little life in it. Some said the wine was gone, some said not flawed but has nothing left. Personally thinking...... way passed everything the wine could offer.
