April 27, 2009 - I was quite impressed with this wine. A good amount of raspberry and black cherry fruit, but definitely stopped short of being a fruit bomb. Moving then into some cola and spice and finishing with a nice, light oakiness. There's a lot of complexity in this wine, and something new to mull over each glass. Glad I have a couple of more of these. Good with creamy chicken dish and should be good with pork or salmon.
11/1/09 Similar notes to last time but also noted some chocolate. Good with sausage and lentils. Bottom line: mmm. -

October 26, 2007 - Ferrington Vineyard Pinot radiates with typical aromas of raspberries, cherries, violets, and rose petals. The flavors of baking spices and cherries are as pleasing to the palate as the wine’s saturated ruby color is to the eye. There’s a complexity to this Pinot Noir that provides different nuances with each sip. But the seductiveness of this leads from sips to gulps. From a block in the vineyard that was planted to the Pommard clone because of its proven legacy in this cold climate appellation. Pommard is one of the oldest Pinot Noir clones found in California and is favored by many winemakers for its ability to produce outstanding wines without the help of other blending clones. It is respected for its reliable color, intense fruit, and fragrant spice components.

from 2nd bottle, since 1st seemed flawed: medium cherry red color; brown sugar and sour cream nose; tart red fruit and spicy, not disjointed or flawed like the first bottle; medium hot finish 89 pts. ($54, 100 cases, 60% new oak)
