January 12, 2024 - Dinner at Terzo in Minneapolis on a cold snowy winter night. Paired with braised beef rib and mashed potatoes. Delicious.
The wine has some complexity combining subdued cherry fruit with a wonderful earthiness...leather and dried leaves.
Going back and forth between 91 and 92 on this wine, calling it a 92 because it really stood up and delivered in what was a memorable meal. -

October 6, 2022 - Kings of Italy Class at the Texas Wine School. Decanted. 100% Nebbiolo. Med garnet. Med, developed aromas of tart black plum, red cherry & raspberry, dried roses, dried botanical herbs, tar, forest floor. Subtle influence from at least 24 mos. in oak. Dry, with med+ to high acidity, med+, smooth tannins & med+ alcohol (13.5%). Med+ body, med+ flavor intensity & length, with a savory, earthy, slightly bitter licorice note on the finish. Elegant and balanced, it is showing quite well at 12 years of age. It has a few years left, but not likely to improve with further aging.

April 4, 2022 - Identical service and experience as from my note from 2/03/22. Wonderful wine at its peak per my Italian friend who claims to be a Nebbiolo aficionado.

February 3, 2022 - Another new wine for me as I resume my Italian explorations. One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Screen was unnecessary as there was no sediment. The Cantina indicates 100% Nebbiolo. During decant, a nose of savory herbs came forth. After resting, wine was clear, slightly darker crimson in the bowl to a brighter rim, but no bricking. A small clear halo was present. In the glass: a very pleasant nose of red fruits, fines herbs and wet slate. In the mouth: smooth red fruits and herbs with fine tannins and wonderful balance. The wine was still quite fresh even with the 13.5% ABV. Moderately long finish, again quite smooth and emphasizing the fruit-slate mix. An outstanding match with broiled and herb-flavored lamb chops.
