Community Tasting Notes 5

February 25, 2021 - Virtual tasting with proprietor Jim Bean. A darker character with bramble berry fruit complementing the red currant core. A bit of leather. Not as sweet as previous vintages, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but also less expressive. Couldn't really see the argument here for an „early drinking vintage“ as the palate did not come across well integrated with mouth-coating tannin and just not quite enough fruit for an exciting finish. The weakest in this 2014-2017 mini-vertical.

December 24, 2020 - This was incredibly smooth for being a 2017. Rich, velvety fruit. Outstanding yet it feels like it still has room to grow as it ages.

November 26, 2020 - So I blush a bit thinking about the price tag, until I taste it - and the same was true with the 16. This has no business being this composed. Blueberry, blackberry compote on the palate following a nose laced herbaceousness and mocha. Really stunning - I agree that the QPR is certainly questionable - one could argue the same for basically any dollar amount for fermented fruit . . . but it's really about the memories and the visceral response, hard to put a price tag on that. Amortized over a few hours, this is way cheaper than therapy. Maybe it’s not too early to crack some 2017 Ovid!!?? Viva Pritchard Hill!

November 20, 2020 - First taste with CV. Needs 2-3 years to fully open. Blackberry, plum, menthol. Cinnamon on the tip. A little grainy. Long finish. Very good wine but not great value.

September 3, 2020 - sweet herbs, earth, graphite, black plums
