September 11, 2021 - Anniversary dinner at Grand Cafe Morristown.

I didn't not really like it at the price. Reserved aromatics, plush initially on the palette and then a grainy mouthfeel and spiced mid palette emerges where the cherry turns to an underdeveloped fruit. Finish is actually slightly bitter. Unbalanced acidity, fruit & tannin here !! Deserves a lower score but I am being generous out of respect for the wine.

March 22, 2021 - One Variety -- 3 Price-Points, Blind (Los Olivos, CA): Served blind in a flight of three of the same grape variety, in this case all from 2018: one inexpensive, one, mid-range and one high-end. Dense and somewhat unyielding at this youthful stage, with plenty of red fruit and some spice, but very little in the way of nuance or texture. To my mind this was edged out by a non-single vineyard Sta. Rita Hills Pinot from Dragonette, in what was an underwhelming flight dragged down even more by the Meiomi. I have to say others liked this more than I did.

February 11, 2020 - Tasting at Louis Jadot (Beaune): Ripe and forward aromas of black cherry and meaty spice. Plush and bright on the palate. Drinks well young. 87-89

February 11, 2020 - Burgundy, Day 1 (Beaune, France): A slightly plusher version of this village wine. There's a nice roundedness to the red fruit here, but it's on the back end where you get just a very mild hit of roastedness. Nonetheless, that's easy to overlook as this is just a really charming and juicy example.
