January 14, 2024 - Some VA, needed a day to blow off. Ripe, extracted, structured. Aromas of red vines, smoke, plum, cedar, black cherry, leather, herbes de provance. Needs more time, I think, or more air to drink now.

January 8, 2024 - Nice fruit laden nose, slightly primary, that developed with air. Some light but firm grip through the finish. Maybe the vineyard (my first experience) but the Mourvèdre was more grapey than my experience with this varietal.
My only bottle, wish I had given it another year, maybe two. I think further integration should yield a more enjoyable wine.
A bit hard to judge, as it was well made, good balance & structure.

September 5, 2023 - PnP. Nose of wild strawberries, blueberries, and red currant with lots of rustic brush notes. Smooth, polished palate of bright red berry with a little blackberry underpinning, adding light mint, fresh basil and thyme delivered with rolling, peppery acidity. Round, pliable tannins provide some structure with lots of exotic spice, telicherry peppercorns, notes of peach and an earthy finish. Has really come into balance and seems riper than last year's notes. It's a pleasure to drink and didn't last long in the glass!

July 22, 2023 - 4 hour decant. Great Zin style berry notes. Sense but not weighty. Blueberry and a touch of cranberry on the finish. Still on the younger side, but even though I usually like these older, this is in great shape right now.

June 10, 2023 - PNP. 70% Mataro, 20% Zinfandel and 10% Cabernet Pfeffer. 20% whole cluster. 14.5% ABV. A masculine wine, for lack of a better term. Savory black fruit, tannins firm but not obtrusive, good energy. Drink or hold.

March 11, 2023 - This is a terrific if unconventional wine. Most CA wines express their fruit with a "sweet" sensation, Not this one. My initial impression was that there was no fruit--stone or mineral, but not fruit. On subsequent sips I detected slightly tart stone fruit, but, again, no sweetness. Quite dusty tannins. Not particularly elegant, but a satisfying robust wine.

February 2, 2023 - My contribution to a blind tasting group "men who wine"

I should have double splashed decanted before arrival as this was locked up tight. Shared amongst a large group so this bottle didn't even have a chance to develop within the glass.

The mystery in brown bag even stumped most but there was some mentioning of New World Zin even thou this in mostly Mataro/Mourvedre.

If pulling this from the cellar please decant and let this baby get some air! Or, preferably HOLD!

January 8, 2023 - Eucalyptus, maraschino cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon, black pepper on the nose — pretty expressive on the nose. The palate is smooth, with ripe berries, followed up by the eucalyptus and more herbal notes. A little slick on the palate and warming on the throat, not a ton of acid — but it’s still very good and feels balanced. Very enjoyable, and feels unique.
