April 9, 2024 - Decanted for an hour. The air helped open up this wine with deeper dark fruit notes, along with earth, funk, and substantial weight/body on the mid-palate and some oak filling in on the finish.

March 29, 2022 - Blackberry, herbs, lots of acidity and some tannins. Some smoked meaty notes. Pretty long finish. Lots of years left.

January 13, 2022 - A subtle style of Syrah. The aromatics are pleasant, with some funky earth, black pepper, floral and meaty elements, but they are somewhat subdued. It’s light to medium weight with low tannin and moderate acidity. This might improve with a bit of age, but I don’t see it fleshing out further. It’s a nice wine for the style.

September 27, 2021 - Really enjoyed this wine a lot. Upon opening, a little barnyard funk on the nose which was also echoed on the palate. Eventually blew off as the evening wore on and almost indecipherable on the second day. Very savory on the palate with a lot going on in your mouth and on the nose. Dried herbs, charcoal, cracked pepper and spice, meaty, some flowers, some bay or herb...man, really complex and enjoyable. Beautiful weight and silky, but slightly grippy texture. Lots of yin and yang in play with this syrah that seriously over-delivers.

March 27, 2021 - Amazing stuff. I preferred the Campbell Ranch Syrah by quite some margin with the 2017 vintage, but with 2018 the Peters Syrah might have a slight edge. It is so floral, so fresh, so dark but incredibly lively too. Blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, lemon thyme, spring flowers, lavender, black pepper, diverse airy spices, a little smoky meat... Tense and grippy, chiaroscuro contrast, long and coating with lots of tart dark fruit, and typical savory and spicy Syrah notes through the finish, as well as an unexpected and delectable note of lemon oil. This sparkles like mica. Worth following for many years.

December 23, 2020 - Lighter bodied than some others, but 13.1% alcohol is nice. Just a little bit of funk on the nose. Good fruit & finish.

November 11, 2020 - Color: medium ruby with purple
Nose: cracked black pepper. Cherry, ripe. Lots of black fruit. Something meaty.
Palate: Medium acidity and low tannins. Medium body. Powerful aromas of red fruit and spices, with indeed black pepper to the fore. Finish: medium

Nice syrah. I think I jumped the gun here but there is lively and powerful aroma here, as well as structure enough to go well with mesoamerican food
