    November 18, 2023 - Smooth beautiful wine.

November 1, 2023 - I don’t remember how I bought this wine, but it’s excellent, and I say that as someone with an old world palate. It has a touch too much alcohol - it’s really best at cellar temp - but it’s no spoof bomb. Reminds me of Clos Rougeard, in that the fruit is dense and ripe but there’s plenty of tobacco and violets and green pepper too; this doesn’t shy completely away from the pyrazine, which I love in my Cab. Cedary and dusty on the finish, nice acid, plenty of tannin but in balance with the fruit. There’s a touch of dark oak but it’s not at all over-bearing. Really great and decidedly gesturing toward the cool side of Cabernet.

September 10, 2023 - This was excellent. Dark chocolate covered cherry with bitter cocoa, pencil lead and a long penetrating finish with balanced acidity and concealed alcohol. Brooding and quite good.

July 13, 2023 - Served at a friends. Purple fruit - blackberry, currants, and dark cherry. Smooth mid-palate with really nice depth/concentration. Nice flavors of cassis, some spice/herbs/licorice, cocoa/mocha, and a little graphite component. However, the finish was lacking - short/not much depth. Popped/poured but drank out of a decanter for a couple hours. Improved during the session but it needs additional time to open-up - although a longer decant would also have helped. High quality fruit but it needs a couple years in my opinion as somewhat expected. 94 for me at this youthful stage but the 97 rating from Galloni wouldn’t surprise me with some more time. I’m going to buy some to lay down - I was quite impressed with the quality for the price point.

July 19, 2022 - Napa day trip (Di Costanzo, Fantesca, Colgin) (Napa): Fresh aromas of intense and pleasantly spiced red fruits, running earth, orange flowers, unsharpened new pencils, deep green underbrush, new cedar box, and river stones. The fruit with the spice on the nose is so nice - imagine finding red fruits and berries in a forest that is grown with some herbs and shrubbery.

Flavors are very similar to the nose with fresh and spiced red fruits, graphite, spiced twigs, dry tilled earth, and savory minerals.

Loved the firm intensity and fresh energy here. Quite curious to see how this develops in its lifetime. A strong 95.
