November 26, 2023 - Double-decanted the night before for an event where it was not consumed. Classic Bordeaux nose, with cedar and some tarry notes in the background. Made in a vin de garde style, this is still quite forceful, but the ample tannins are well balanced by bright acidity and silky, plummy fruit. Not the most subtle wine, but this bottle was drinking quite well with its unintended long decant.

November 18, 2023 - This was decanted for 3 hours. More would have helped. The wine is still quite young, and not fully developed, but it has attractive blackcurrant fruit, some savouriness, plus some unresolved tannin making it somewhat subdued. Needs a few more years to be at its best, but is nevertheless good now.

November 15, 2023 - Nose: Dark cassis and sweet figs, floral honey, crisp autumn leaves, wet soil, really incredible. Palate: Barely ripe blackberries, beautiful fruit with no trace of oxidation; fine grained tannins.

November 4, 2023 - Nez fermé au départ, puis s ouvre sur un beau fruit noir, un peu floral. En bouche, beaucoup d ampleur, beaux tanins. Le tout est bien balancé et se termine par une longue finale sur des notes de cuir. Encore plusieurs années devant lui. Très bon

November 1, 2023 - L’austérité tranquille et assumée d’un bordeaux classique, j’aime en général. Pas faits pour l’apéro, ces vins prennent tout leur sens à table. Barton n’est jamais très flamboyant, mais celle-ci est terne, ça manque de fruit. Les tanins sont fondus, il entame son plateau et s’y maintiendra longtemps. Bien équilibré mais trop sérieux pour moi. 87 pts
