November 23, 2023 - 23112023 - Ducru Beaucaillou dinner at Potager KL. Beautiful and so elegant from start to finish. Dried red fruit, violet notes, cassis with delicious pencil box & savory mushroom notes. Really enjoyed the acidity & the depth from the complex finish. Surprised that there is still so much freshness from this 17 year old bottle

November 22, 2023 - Deep garnet. Delightful nose with layers of blackcurrant, fine spices, leather and tobacco. A touch of forest floor. Very refined on the medium bodied palate with tannins which have started to soften. Long smoky finish. Drink now or hold.

September 5, 2023 - Full-bodied, firm, classic, tannic, moderately austere in character, with a bright, cranberry, and red currant core of fruit that will remain on the firm side. The wine remains youthful and should age for decades while retaining its classic character. Drink from 2023-2045.

March 11, 2023 - Just a heads up that after 1 hour decant this wine remained tight and austere… We dove in anyway because sometimes you have to in a restaurant... It was enjoyable and suggested of potential greatness to come - fine, supple tannins; strong acidity although lacking energy now, and ripe Bordeaux fruit underneath. Judging by the reviews, more decanting may be necessary, or better yet more time in the bottle.

December 25, 2022 - Popped and poured for Christmas dinner (American Wagyu prime rib roast with various sides). This is a solid red wine with some modest sediment at the end of the bottle. The nose is expressive and topnotch, showing red and black fruits, damp soil, and an old chest. In the mouth, this is midweight and restrained; the old-school structure dominates with modest fruit and tobacco aspects. The chewy finish still has some medium tannin, which mixes with some lingering forest impressions. Overall, this is a classic bottle of Bordeaux that shows its good breeding. It drinks well now, but still feels on the younger side and should have many years left. This was a good match for the food. 92 points.
