February 3, 2022 - Old school with dark red fruit, lots of earthiness and some bret hints but not in a bad way. Got much cleaner with air and settled into a nice balance. The old vine complexity is evident and this could easily be a dead ringer for a CNDP. May be fun to insert into a blind tasting :o).

September 21, 2020 - Tasted blind. Dark berries, some leather notes, and a hint of green flavors on the nose. Medium+ acidity and quite structured tannins with red berries and cherries on the palate. Very nice finish. The nose reminded me much of a Syrah with a bit of age on it, but the palate was much brighter. Interesting wine.

December 18, 2019 - Been a few years since I had one of these, fun to see how it has developed. Still quite dark, not quite opaque, showing deep strawberry garnet color. This wine had a tendency toward showing brett, but has been stored perfectly at 55 degrees. There’s a bit of roasted mushroom earthiness, but it’s relatively clean on the nose. Palate is still quite youthful and fresh, a mix of blackberry fruit with a bright raspberry streak, excellent acidity, some lightly chalky tannins. The electric/volcanic note I remember is still there, but faded into the background. A fascinating wine starting to reach maturity, but with years to go.

August 6, 2017 - Dark crimson violet color, no sign of brett on the nose, which this wine can show. Every time I open one of these I'm sorry I have one less, so much great intensity, energy, deep red/purple fruit, with strong volcanic notes, violets, spice, still very youthful, with good acidity and medium fine tannins. Glad to have several more to continue following into the future.

April 10, 2017 - Full nose of meat, funk, earth, licorice and plum fruit. Smooth with good concentration. Earthy and leathery. Good spice in the lingering finish. Quite nice for its level.

February 10, 2016 - Dark, opaque garnet, clean as a whistle on the nose, very nice dark red fruit, fine tannins, iron, iodine, rocky/volcanic, streamlined, sinewy, middle weight, a bottle with a lot of youth still. Delicious, interesting stuff, I always love breaking one of these out.

January 16, 2016 - Dark black color. Roasted and smoked meat with plum and black pepper. Came across like a pleasant Côtes du Rhône at its peak. Good with food.

November 2, 2013 - Very nice. Reminded me of why I love Cotes du Roussillon, with its funky, full bore berry and cherry aromas and flavors. Nicely lively in the mouth, with low tannins but nice acidity. Perfect autumn wine for mushroom dishes and earthy stews.
