December 25, 2023 - From a 750ml this time: full golden colored; effusive nose of dried apricot, kiwi, green apple, hints of pineapple and just the right amount of TDN for that enticing “petrol” note. Palate has all those notes with really nice acidity to give marvelous tension between the inherent sweetness vs salty minerality. Super long and delicious!!! 94+

March 23, 2022 - The wine looks deep yellow gold colored. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lime, keffir lime, lemon, apricot, lychee and pineapple. It tastes like lime, apple, apricot, mango, pineapple and creme brûlée.
Beutifully balanced. i would not describe it as unctuous, but still a wonderful texture. Opened up considerably upon warming up. Long delicate finish.
    Drinking beautifully.

January 2, 2022 - Drunk from a hound ('arf bottle), cork in splendid condition, note made after drinking over two days. This was my favourite of a jolly dinner grouping of Neudorf 2014 Moutere Chardonnay, Kumeu River 2014 Hunting Hill Chardonnay and Petrus 1998. I will note that the two Chardonnay's were sensational and they could as easily have been the preferred wines. The Petrus I have reviewed, so I will leave that note to speak for itself.

The colour is deep golden with hints of bronze - as one would expect from a wine of this age in an 'arf bottle.

The nose and palate instantly relieve any fears of an over developed or tired wine. The characters are of apricot, toffee, ripe apple and they are very fresh and vibrant. The texture is beguiling - unctuous but never cloying and the finish is cut by acid that is so fine and so integrated that it almost defies belief. I am still excited by it a day later and my mind keeps drifting back to it. A great drinking experience. Don't serve this too cold - it doesn't need it or benefit and the wine is such that even sampled at near room temperature (at one point) it was perfect. At a cool but not cold temperature that acid really hums and showcases how good this wine is.

A note of caution - I seem to have been lucky enough to have come upon a good bottle - several reviews comment on the wine not having the zing that this bottle did. As they say, "No great old wines, just great old bottles". However, such was the quality of this wine that I would take the risk again at auction.

July 13, 2019 - Same as recent bottle. Nice cool as aperitif or with the right cheese. To me, seems a titch soft, and I am drinking up.

May 30, 2019 - Deep golden; “losing steam” in its vigor; came off a bit more ripe and flabby than previous half bottles. Still a great match for spicy sushi.
