Community Tasting Notes 26

  • VincentMorey Likes this wine:

August 21, 2022 - Very similar to Jean Foillard Cote Du Py 2018 from magnum, but more sharper sour cherry notes (without decanting). Easier to drink when chilled, and a double decant (with 25 mins in the decanter) simply was not enough. I would probably decant this an hour next time, or let this cellar longer. Very pleasurable otherwise to drink over the course of 2 hour meal. Interestingly paired just ok with roast duck. A good wine, but Cote Du Py is still a better bottle overall for this vintage.

May 29, 2022 - well-balanced, fresh and energetic, good acidity and fragrant, with notes of plums and berries.

May 6, 2022 - Big and ripe. The 2018 Cote de Puy needed 2 nights to settle down, but this one didn’t make it to a second night. Brought this bottle to Madam Janette in Aruba, and it worked well with their steak.

April 24, 2022 - Remarkable aroma, superb texture, and lucious fruit with fine delineation. Impressive now and plenty of stuffing to improve with age.

April 9, 2022 - Too big and ripe and (slightly) alcohol-hot for me. Haven't been a fan of any of the '18s Foillard.
