October 27, 2021 - PnP and had with pasta and broccoli. Definitely needed some time to open up. The color was dark and rich, black cherry flavor with a somewhat full body with smooth tannins. Only complaint was that it may have tasted a bit "grapey" but all in all very solid and pleasant to drink. Would be a good sipper as well as pairing with food

March 18, 2021 - Popped and poured. Deep purple core; notes of black cherry, pomegranate, raspberry, crushed stone. Medium to full bodied, extracted, good depth, excellent acidity which provides good structure and grip. Needs a few years in the cellar to integrate; will need to relocate from my wife’s “safe to drink” cellar and hide them away in mine! Should merit a higher rating with time.

February 15, 2021 - 2018 Marie-Paule Pinot Noir, 93pts/Editors’ Choice (WE) (50/50% destemmed/whole cluster)—$32 retail, see tasting notes below. 167 cases produced, only 76 remain. Cortell-Rose Vineyard, Eola-Amity Hills AVA, Willamette Valley, Oregon.

WE Tasting Notes: “This cuvée was half fermented with whole clusters. It’s a precise, focused wine—the blackberry and black cherry fruit has a gentle squirt of lemony acidity. It’s lively and clean, with no sulfites added, and a lovely showcase for this outstanding vineyard.” 93pts., Editors’ Choice, P. Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast, Oct 2020

“Moderately dark garnet color in the glass. Delicate aromas of blackberry, black currant and sweet tobacco. Well-endowed with lavish, dark fruits that offer more pop and finishing length than that found in the Colette bottling. There is a little more, but not intrusive, tannic spine evident (than the Colette).” 91 pts., Rusty Gaffney, Prince of Pinot, Nov 2020

February 11, 2021 - Higher acid, which integrated with time. Darker berry flavors - more reminiscent of a CA pinot.

February 9, 2021 - Very fruit forward pinot. Has some structure but the relatively high abv was not apparent or off-putting. Enjoyable now but needs some time to evolve a little more complexity to be the wine I had hoped it would be. Looking forward to comparing to Colette.

December 28, 2020 - This drinks like a Pinot twice the price. Plenty of room to grow. Excellent value.
