March 16, 2022 - What a geeky wine. Definitely not a sub-90 wine by any means and probably given by those because it is definitely not your mainstream white. This wine has a backbone that is wild herb tangerine buttercream with kiwi and citrus notes and stone ground minerality to the middle and finish. Starts with a very obtuse and rounded mouth feel, and finishes with graphite, flinty minerality and a dash of white pepper. This one was served Perhaps a little too cold, and we let this one warm up on the table as the dinner progressed. This one went beautifully with the red snapper stuffed with crab with lemon butter sauce and spinach. Other dishes were lemon butter sauce pan sauteed red snapper and herbed chicken / vegetable dish. You just don't see this kind of geeky wine on a restaurant list but it is so versatile that it just went with everything. Structure here is massive. This is a 2019 and will sit in the cellar for a WHILE. But really a fun wine to drink now.

June 21, 2021 - Big sip of iced peach greens tea with aromas of an oxidized copper green penny. Tastes like apricots and Fuji apples. Very much as expected and very much appreciated.

April 7, 2021 - Yum. Lighter and less extracted than the ‘18 — I hesitate to call this an orange wine at all. Floral rose, delicate. Good zippy acidity, concentration, and length. Very tasty and fun.

Edit: held up perfectly over several days, developed some hay like and chamomile notes. Delicious.

April 5, 2021 - Beautiful orange hue. Aromas of honey, alfalfa, white pepper. On the palate reminds me of drinking mead. it has a bit of brettiness to it. I know some people like that, and claim it gives wine character, but to me it was off-putting. Even let it decant for 1/2 an hour but no change. Maybe this was a bad bottle? Idk. Was so excited to try orange wine for the first time. Unfortunately this did not live up to my expectations. Many others that tried it around the dinner table were of the same opinion. Was not popular. But that’s the thing about wine. Everyone has their own palette for tastes they like.

January 22, 2021 - Succulent grapefruit, melon, honeysuckle. Deep colour for the age, and longevity on the palate make this very special

December 8, 2020 - Beautiful deep gold color.

On the nose, pungent musky Muscat/Viognier/Gewurz flowery spice.

On the palate, an amazing array of flavors.. candied ginger, orange peel, tea, lychees, smoke. Finishes with medium acidity and just a tiny hint of tannic grip.

    Paired fabulously with tomato bisque.

Found out after drinking it that Zibibbo is the Sicilian name for Muscat of Alexandria, so it all makes sense. Quite similar in style to the Jean-Pierre Rietsch Murmure I had a few weeks ago that is also skin fermented Muscat.

White rose, candied peach and apricot, crystalized ginger, honeysuckle on the nose. Hints of viognier / gewürztraminer. Fresh and minerally palate with loads of dried white fruit chiming in.
