January 22, 2021 - PNP into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Fruit” day): Medium golden to the eyes.

Ambitious style, Burgundy killer Chenin as consistent with previously tasted. Honeyed cornflakes, golden citrus fruits like grapefruits and stone fruits like apricots. Minty, floral spices.

With time in glass building on more ripe fruits on the palate. Very much minerality driven and good acidity.

    93-94 points.

Smoke and cure meaty notes, good spectrum of aromas towards the end of the bottle.

    December 28, 2020 - A most compelling nose.
One of the great Saumurs, approaching Rougeard royalty.

June 16, 2019 - Chenin study (et al.) (Chicago, IL): Mildly reduced here, with a bit of a green pepper thing that I don't particularly care for. The palate is too lean, without the generosity of fruit or anything else to give flesh to a very skeletal high-acid wine. Nice minerality as well, but this goes too far down the acid-freak path without any counterbalance.

April 4, 2017 - Comparable in quality and character to cru Huet Vouvray sec, with maybe more substance, less fruit development, and more obtrusive oak. Color is advanced but definition suggests improvement possible. Not rated; awaiting future pairing with 2011 Clos du Bourg. Definitely 90+ in any case.

March 3, 2017 - Intense ripe yellow fruits. Nutty style. Color is on dark side, almost suggesting more development than what shows on palate. That chalky, lime quality I often get on this wine was very evident here. Would prefer a touch more acidity as after a glass this started to tire--and the whole wine felt a bit too big and unwieldy for my taste.

January 30, 2017 - Loire Night (San Francisco): Tasted blind-guessed Chenin, maybe Saumur. Medium yellow. Quite fragrant with some wood and vanilla. Medium weight with a glycerine coating. Orange and oaky flavors. Not terribly intense and only average acidity (much less than any other wine I've tried from this producer). Not special and I would drink up over the near term.

January 29, 2017 - Boisé marqué, un peu fumé, mais grande complexité sur des fruits jaunes cuits et de la vanille. Très beau volume en bouche, c'est grand si on a pas peur du bois.

November 15, 2016 - Just a hint of sea spray on the nose; reflects the vintage with a fairly lean and streamlined palate, not flashing much intensity, and dominated by somewhat tart, lemon/lime acidity. None of the fireworks that can appear in more favorable vintages.

July 7, 2016 - Crazy brine on the nose and sea salt dominant palate *Wow, potent potable!*
    Olive tapenade
Waxy, slightly leesy, kinda funky, barnyardy but not bretty
    Sour lemon acidity(!)

    Drink with oysters or sushi
