November 24, 2013 - Wow. I was very worried when the cork blew up into a thousand pieces, but no issues with this wine. Just bought 2 of these along with 2 '07 Sequel Syrah's and 2 '08 Like Father Like Son Syrah/Petit Syrah's at MDL. Dark fruit, earthy. Beautiful. I have been very happy with Novy Syrah's.
November 18, 2012 - Very dark red, med red edge. Nose has blackberries and spice. Dark flavours, powerful, alcohol and well balanced, otherwise.
February 14, 2010 - Lots of big berry, currant and some pepper with a nice finish
September 10, 2009 - Nothing special.
May 29, 2009 - Taste from Just Grapes.
One dimensional spicy fruit.
Finish shows some imbalance with lots of heat. Pass.
Dissapointed. Usually Novy shows well. Didn't have the balance here.

December 20, 2008 - Cracked this last night to have a glass while watching The Dark Knight. Another taste today to get a good sense of where this is on day 2. This is a big rich wine but doesn't go over the top. In fact, it's the biggest fruited Bennett Valley Syrah I've had. Nose is rich dark cocoa dusted blackberries/blueberries with a hint of smoke. The palate is full bodied, rich and unctuous. Notes of ripe blackberries, licorice, dark chocolate, pepper and a little bit of asphalt. Chewy finish. Just as good on day 2 as day 1 if not a little better. No hurry to drink these unless you really like the richly textured fruit. Enjoy!
