August 18, 2019 - From a magnum, much better than the one I had a few years ago. This was still quite awkward right out of the bottle but developed a bit with decanting. Powerful, some austere fruit though balanced in other respects. Not one I'd seek out, and doesn't feel as old as it is.

February 25, 2019 - Amsterdam UGCB Tasting and Winemakers' Dinner (Beurs van Berlage / Café De Klepel): Magnum. Classic Cabernet from a vintage with tough tannins. Hearty, savoury, food wine.

November 4, 2018 - Tile brown. Underwhelming nose. Occasional whiffs of greatness Fruit mainly faded from palate. Charmless. Dying fast. Drink or dump. DT/JL/Jude @ NewUbin USD$82

July 8, 2018 - Yes, It is a 2006 but I would say outstanding for this vintage. Ready to drink

June 10, 2018 - During a Magnum dinner. Medium brownish garnet. Very mature on the palate and nose. A bit of heat at the finish. A mediocre showing.

(Chateau Giscours (Margaux)) There is rather a rubbery edge of reduction here, although a second bottle was much better. This had a light and crystalline cherry fruit on the nose, with dark and smoky nuances without adding any great suggestion of depth or impact. A light and lean start as might be expected, but certainly more appealing substance in the middle, with a nice gentle but tangible extract in the middle. Supple and soft, with a gritty rose-petal perfume at the end, this has some promise in terms of its reserved substance and nice perfume. A nice but lighter style.

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) Dense liquorice-spiced fruit on the nose here which has real appeal, with a dense and exotic character. Appealing, fresh, tobacco-tinged fruit on the palate, with a lot of substance and good grip. Ripe tannin, fresh acidity, lots of vigour too. A good firm finish. I like this.

(Chateau Giscours Margaux) Nicely perfumed nose, attractive, with a good presence of fruit too. Rounded but well defined, quite fresh, nicely textured and with a good weight. Beneath it all, a firm structure and good acidity. This is a very good effort, in the context of the vintage, for Giscours, an increasingly successful Margaux estate.
