  July 19, 2020 - Popped and poured. Rich aroma of black fruit, bramble, and licorice. Full bore, complex mix of flavors includes red/black fruits, tobacco, licorice, with the licorice moving to the front in the finish. Robust, firm backbone, complex, excellent staying power despite the 15.5% ABV.
  
  Paul Dolan is the source for Briceland's Dark Horse wines, so I knew going in that the fruit would be great - and it is. Stylistically it is quite different from Andrew's wines, which makes for an interesting comparison. While Briceland's wines are what could be considered an "Old World" expression, this is very firmly rooted in the New World and is a classic rockin' sockin' Zinfandel, though not excessively so.
  
  My stylistic preferences lean more towards the Briceland style, but that's a personal preference, and probably a minority one. Either way, this is great stuff. With the 15.5% ABV level, I might never have bought this if it hadn't had Paul Dolan's name on it, and I would have been missing out.

  May 15, 2020 - The grapes for this Mendocino County Zinfandel are sourced from high above the Russian River and are bursting with ripe dark berry aromas.
  This high alcohol full-bodied wine is kept in check as flavors of dark jammy berries mingle with peppery spiciness for the perfect balance. Medium+ acidity and tannins.
  The grapes for @pauldolanwine are sourced from organic and biodynamic vineyards so each bottle represents the terroir in which the grapes are grown.
