April 8, 2024 - In a really good place
April 6, 2024 - Well balanced, ready to drink. Good wine, on par with expectations I guess...
February 24, 2024 - Modest nose of coffee, oak and black currant. Medium-full bodied, this is low in fruit, typical of this house from this era from what I’ve found. Silky with a smooth texture, the tannins have resolved and this has a nice, savory character. No signs of getting tired. Drink now-2028+ 90
January 16, 2024 - Another good showing from the 06 which is definitely at peak. Neither the body nor the fruit for further improvement but no hurry either. Soft blackcurrants and plums with good lift in the middle section, just perfect for a cold winter evening.
June 3, 2023 - Beautiful nose of sweet black currants, spice, charred wood and creosote. Hints of mint. The palate is medium-full bodied and lovely with flavors of sweet red and black currants, new French oak, vanilla and mint as well as spice box. Bright acidity and supple tannins give it a refreshing quality. Perfectly mature, drink now-2026+ 92

January 17, 2023 - The nose brings you to a wet meadow on a rainy day. In the mouth it is remarkable fresh and lively with small red fruits which makes the wine juicy. Hints of wood and leather; laurel is very present. Beautifully developed. The finish is rather corsaged because of the firm tannins.
December 31, 2022 - Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Meaty, savoury, blackcurrant, brambles, slightly earthy, leather, sweet spice, with time a little cream and the fruit becomes more jubey. Medium plus intensity acidity, tight grippy though (again) finely textured tannins go hand in had with wild black fruits joined by a touch of mint and a little non intrusive alcohol warmth on the finish. Nice.
September 30, 2022 - Beautiful nose of black cherry cobbler, black currants, toasty oak and mint. Medium-bodied, this is showing beautifully with a caressing texture with tannins that intensify on the finish, blackberry and currant, oak and vanilla on the palate. This is still somewhat tannic but only a bit dry and should make an excellent foil to steak with plenty of years left. Drink now through 2028+ 92
September 5, 2022 - Much better than I expected. This time, I did not make the mistake of decanting, which I'm sure helped, but there was more concentration anyway. Soft and elegant, with velvety tannins and fruit, mostly blackcurrant of course but with some plum in the middle somewhere. Not the best Batailley, nor a top 06, but a very enjoyable wine.
June 18, 2022 - Good but not the best Batailley, 06 has a great nose and medium bodied that has soft tannins - doesn’t have a long length but pleasant drink.
