August 31, 2021 - The wonder of Bordeaux. Lasted tasted three years ago. No apparent potential. Boring. Now filling out. Rewarding. Keep waiting.

July 27, 2021 - Good fruit and tannin. Balanced. Still young.

July 17, 2021 - Schwerer Stand an diesem Abend gegen die teurere Konkurrenz aus Bdx 06. Ein schöner durchschnittlich guter Wein.

February 16, 2021 - Clean and simple nose of crushed red and blue berries juice with lightly toasted tobacco, cocoa and seasoned cedar. This needed at least 30 minutes for the nose to fully open. Palate showed a bit more power and flavours but they disappeared rather quickly during the transitions. Medium to full-bodied structure which still has some edges towards the end of a somewhat woody and bitter finish. The tannins have got some greenness to them in the aftertaste. Drink up soon before the fruits completely fade away.

January 10, 2021 - Drank over three days, alongside the 2005 La Tour Carnet. Both wines served as benchmarks for the other.

Very pretty bouquet of cedar, haystack, sandalwood, and sweet berries. Rustically inviting, in that it showed among the friendliest 2006 Left Bank vintage wines that I have crossed paths with. In a word: generous. (I have long described the 2006 vintage as a hard bitten, grouchy uncle to 2005.)

Robust and burly on the second day, sporting medium plus acid and medium tannin. Shading to Margaux, on account of its perfume and relative suavity. Delightfully rounded on the third day, testament to the wine's overall youth.

Still evolving and unlikely to peak until 2028-2030. Even then, there will be no need to rush. Enchanting!

(Chateau Cantemerle) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-the nose is spectacular; really impressive; the bouquet is explosive with a lot of red fruit; also some blackberry, tobacco and tar on the back-end; PALATE-this is quite Old World; there's a tea leaf component that I really enjoy and some black currant on the back-end; overall, this is quite earthy; tobacco leaf; definite black fruit (black cassis and black raspberry); this is very good and extremely well made; the $25 price makes this spectacular; there's a secondary cherry flavor (coming through the tannins) that will open up more with some cellaring; dollar for dollar one of the best Bordeaux values we've had in long time; RP-90; GV-91

(Château Cantemerle) Very dark red violet color; tart plum nose; tight, tart plum, mineral, menthol palate, needs time; medium finish
