December 8, 2021 - I thought this was underwhelming. This was a pinoish color. It tasted like it was diluted. I opened this at a trade show and drank over 60 minutes.
August 14, 2021 - Very reductive on opening. Swishing vigorously between two decantersa few times plus a couple hours of air helped dramatically. Then it became that familiar delicious red fruity thing from last spring again. (See my previous note).
June 5, 2021 - Bottle opened an hour before first pour, kept a bit cooled. Very translucent. Bright sweet berry nose, with a little floral note. Very classic D&R fruit flavors, but with a bit of a cola undertone you don’t see in Grenache. It’s so light and bright, perfect on a summer night after a 91 degree day. Goes down so easy.
October 19, 2020 - Light to medium weight. Spicy red fruits, white pepper with a mineral finish. Higher acidity, very vibrant. Tangy on the tongue.
September 19, 2020 - Even better (and more aromatically expressive) than my last bottle. Such beautiful crunchy and sweet red fruit and whole cluster goodness. Really really good and up there with the best of Hardy’s single vineyard efforts.
July 12, 2020 - Decanted. Now 1.5 h after decant. Aromas of bright, tart red cherry and strawberry jolly ranchers, some herbs and hints of minerals. Bright palate that continues the flavors noted on the aromas. Mild-moderate tannins on mid palate w juicy acids. Juicy, lively and delicious. Not that complex though. Not a usual fan of grenache but I like this. 89+
July 1, 2020 - ***
C: A very cheery red
N: Subdued
P: Light and bright, bouncing off the walls. Definitely Grenache, not their usual Mourvèdre. Long, balanced, with notes of red fruits. Drinks like a dream, very compelling. Two days later (Repour) just as good.
5/25/21:
Second bottle. Decanted shortly before drinking. Even better than the last one, a bottle of cheer and delight. Just loved it.
Held up very well under N2.
June 22, 2020 - Tart cherry, mineral, beautiful wine. Like no Grenache I’ve ever had before. I don’t typically enjoy Grenache but this low alcohol high acid style is something else entirely compared to say Chateauneuf de Pape.
June 15, 2020 - The 2019 D&R Brosseau Vineyard Grenache has this beautiful violet color. This could easily be mistaken for a mineral-y Pinot Noir with a nose of sweet red cherries and crushed wet rocks. Light bodied and fresh with tremendous energy that goes in and out of intensity as you drink it. Great acidity through a long finish. Grenache is something very different at 12.6% alcohol. Definitely worth trying if you have been turned off by big overly extracted Grenache.
May 26, 2020 - Ripe red fruits - raspberries, black cherries. Medium + body, high alcohol. Showing nicely right out of the gate and will benefit from more aging
