October 20, 2020 - Poured a small glass of this immediately after opening and it was incredibly green, harsh and tannic, rendering it pretty undrinkable. I then decanted and left for 24 hours as per the instructions, and the difference is immeasurable. The wine is still young and vegetal, but the grip totally vanished and a pleasant smooth liquorice, cherry, menthol and green pepper shows up. Good match with spicy lentils.

October 14, 2020 - Hits on everything. The fruits, the woods, the meats. It’s what you get when you pair a great California winemaker with his best grape.
Hardy Wallace makes beautiful things happen with Mourvèdre.
Murky, fresh pressed wild blueberries, raspberries, strawberries. Salty thick cut beef jerky. Coffee, cocoa, rosemary stems.
Plush and classically balanced like a real-life checkbook. -

July 3, 2020 - Very reductive aromas on opening. Recorked bottle and shook it which helped to dissipate the reductive aromas. Very turbid almost neon purple color - haven't noticed previous vintages being this cloudy. Tart cherries and blackberries with herbs, green peppers, and bark. Despite the excellent acids, the wine is not as joyous and vivacious as previous vintages. Not sure if this is the wine itself or bc of it being shaken. Enjoyed this still but not as much as in previous years.
