  February 3, 2024 - Garagiste selection 14% ABV
  
  Color: dark purple red with viscous legs
  Nose: medium/full body. Wide spectrum of aromas: fresh and dried red berries and fruits; spicy -- black pepper; wet stone and clay; herbal with grassy notes. Constantly evolving in the glass
  Body/flavor: medium/full body. Complex fresh and dried dark fruits; excellent balance
  Aftertaste: lingering
  
  Aglianico del Vulture is one of my favorite grapes... from an amazing producer

  August 1, 2023 - So, on the opening; Titolo’s initial aroma is explosive. Just fantastic. Tertiary dominated though overripe black fruits present. Leather, liquorice, sandalwood. Demands attention. On the palate bright acidic (food wine.....der), and some tannin which is not jarring. Flavours…where to go? Ham/prosciutto, unami, mushroom. Hint of strawberries at the edge. Some salinity in the throat.
  
  Next tasting at the 2.5 hour mark, again without food. Titolo remains meaty and I thought “Squid ink” at one point. The acidity has calmed a lot, and the cornucopia aromatics from the open are more sedate.
  
  At the 3 hours mark Titolo consumed with a rib-roast of beef. Complimented it really well.

  On opening I had a sip and it had searing acidity and wonderful chocolate notes. Re-corked as it seemed in a much more ready state than I had expected.
  
  12h later and the nose is horrible. Actually reminds me of the smell when I used to have to hose down the changing rooms at a swimming baths I worked at - took me back to removing wet hair that had accumulated in the drain after blitzing the place with a Kaercher pressure washer.
  
  Thankfully the palate is much better. Acidity is still pronounced but has mellowed somewhat and there’s heaps of leather, black fruit, dark chocolate. Medium, lip-smacking finish with fine tannins.
  
  Despite the tasting notes saying it was too early to open, I kind of wish we had just opened it and drunk it. Not sure if that would have held back the nose (and the more I think about it, the more I think this was probably a bad bottle) but the delight I briefly encountered this morning just didn’t really show itself when we came around to drink it. One to try again perhaps.

  Aromatically- wow. Just wow. This is one of those wines you can smell twenty times for every sip. There is just so much going on, it is hard to parse through all of the scents this glass is throwing off.
  
  Three hours in- Zalto Burgundy glass- the aromas simply run a crazy gamut. Fruits and berries that read both tart and sweet. Herbal notes that are woodsy and bitter. Iron and smoke.
  
  The palate echoes the nose with incredible complexity. Fruits, herbs, iron and smoke. This bottle comes across as rather tight and structured, barely revealing the tip of the iceberg. Tannins and structure upon entry, front loading the herbs and then immediately veering into lean, tart and juicy.
  
  Day two, recorked with no gas. The volume has grown, but the edges have remained. Crank the fruit and herbs while leaving the tannins and acid intact. A little discordant and overly rambunctious.
  
  I really enjoyed giving this a try, but I’d definitely wait until 2025 or later before checking back in.
