June 6, 2023 - 14% alcohol; opened, vinturied, and tasted 20 minutes later at room temperature (25 degrees C); composite cork, with a maximum of 2 mm wine penetration; cork aroma of alcohol, stone fruit, cork; medium to heavy weight foil; medium legs, medium brown/red; nose of alcohol, root vegetables, citrus, generic pithy fruit; full bodied with components that don't layer well; for example, sweetness almost seems like an afterthought, being dumped in on top of everything else; and the fruit has developed in the wrong direction, tasting more like vegetables past their prime; this effect gets even worse at the back of the tongue where it leaves a half-bitter, minerally aftertaste in a medium to long finish; if you have this in your cellar, give it a good sniff and a taste before serving

September 29, 2021 - 92šŸ‘ƒ šŸ’ cough syrup in a good way. Taste: blackberry, ripe red cherry, some earth, some nice mild tannin and chocolate come through in the finish. Really nice."

August 26, 2021 - 2018 Kirkland Carneros Pinot Noir (Napa Valley, California)
A pale garnet wine that packs a surprising ton of taste. Spicy fruit nose full of cherry and strawberry plus a pinch of cinnamon and cloves. Loads of cherry and spice on the palate too with a curvy backbone of soft French oak. The flood of flavour is long and lingering. An easy drinking, fruit forward Cali-style iteration of the ā€œHeartbreak Grape.ā€ This Pinotā€™s built more for pleasure than punditry. Unbelievably bargain priced at $9.99 in the USA. Slightly more in Canada but sadly, only available at Costco Liquor outlets in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

May 15, 2021 - Muted cherry notes on the nose. Lots of cherry, strawberry, raspberry and cola on the palate. Balanced acidity with a touch of oak and a little spice on the finish. Good value for Carneros fruit with the Costco pricing. 88 points.

November 26, 2020 - Unremarkable but inoffensive Pinot. I suppose it is good for $11, though itā€™s probably the first time I had something from the Carneros region that wasnā€™t somehow impressive.

August 5, 2020 - The old saying that thereā€™s no good cheap Pinot holds true, but this is as good a Pinot as youā€™ll find for the price. Medium-bodied style, not super spoofy at least. Heavy on the cherry notes with a touch of earth, wintergreen, strawberry soda. Little black pepper on the finish. Solid weeknight wine.
