December 29, 2022 - Pours lighter side of burgundy. Fresh pour has vibrant red fruit with hints of spice and minerality. Palate is true. Lots of strawberry, cherry, flint, light oak, and some funk come in as it opens up. Nice and fruity young, and will probably be better in 3-5 years.

July 21, 2021 - Domaine Patrick Javillier 2018 Pernand-Vergelesses Pinot Noir - Dark ruby red. Inviting nose and lush medium palate of earthy black cherry, fresh mushroom, and slightly woody red plum. Medium acidity. Medium minus tannins. A Burgundy for the New World drinker. Just enough fruit and a well regulated militia of oak, tannins, and acidity make for a PN that’s true to its roots yet approachable to the novice. A wide variety of cuisines will pair nicely. I went with very authentic (read, “spicy”) Ethiopian fare. Drink now through 2028.
