November 4, 2023 - Big but more integrated than last bottle. Really enjoyed this. Wish I had more.

August 22, 2022 - Very big wine. Rich dark fruit. Enough backbone to stand up to any food. A bit high in alcohol. Definitely pair with food like steak, a rich pork, or
BBQ. It is ready to drink now.

    April 18, 2021 - 100% Albarossa
(purportedly a crossing of Nebbiolo and Barbera developed in 1938,
but DNA analysis in 2009 showed it was rather Nebbiolo di Dronero
which is Chatu from the Ardèche, France, grown in Piemonte)
from estate vineyards in Olivola with marly, calcareous soil
    at 120 –150 m and vine density of 4,500/ha yielding 7.2 tons/ha.
    Manual harvest. Crushed and de-stemmed.
1-week maceration of promace with must in large steel vats.
Malolactic. Aged first in barrique for 6 months. Then in 30HL barrels
for 12 months, plus at least 4 more months in bottle.
    15.5% Abv.
Ownership: Bricco dei Guazzi is part of Genagricola S.p.A.
Company with sole shareholder Generali Italia S.p.A. managed and
    coordinated by Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.

A(ccuray)=2: Deep dark ruby. Intense, concentrated varietal.
B(alance)=2: Ripe fruit forward with adequate acid structure.
    C(omplexity)=2: Dark berries, coffee, leather.
D(epth)=2: Luscious mouthfeel. Full palate and finish.

    Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2] = 8/10

    Really a Barbera on steroids.

December 17, 2020 - I really really enjoyed this wine. Doing simple things in a great way. A hybrid of nebbiolo and barbera according to the label, albarossa combined some of the fine elements of both, the clay-yeast earthy mousse of nebbiolo and its intense tannins with the round calmness of Barbera. And all this without the frequent headrilling acidity that you find in reds of this range, and without intrusive barique notes. Very harmonious, very full at 15.5abv, very elegantly crafted. Ready to drink now. Great VfM, bought at 12E. Will return!
