  • Schwarzer Hund Likes this wine:

November 1, 2021 - Dark red (almost black), 90 minutes airtime in bottle, earthy black currant/blackberry nose, dense black fruit on palate, hint of chocolate, touch of oak, very smooth long finish. Our last bottle sad to say.

October 31, 2021 - Final Wine Tasting Dinner of 2021: Green capsicum, blackcurrant, black olive, with excellent French oak handling gives this wine a distinct cool-climate feel. The nose is open for business. In the palate, this is a mixture of ripe Napa fruit and some herbaceous elements, so there is a combination of leanness and richness to the palate that is complex and inviting. Certainly mature, but no hurry.

June 20, 2021 - A 3 liter Pulled from dads cellar for Father’s Day and left resting upright for three days.

The cork was quite dry and took some effort to remove. I ended up drilling out the cork with a bit and drill…. Perhaps a lesson can be created. I digress.

The wine was trip,e decanted to remove cork residue. Baking spice and soft fruit was very apparent and appealing. Still showing a nice red hue rather than brick in tone. Over four hours it held up well. Obviously, a wine to drink up, the large format does offer some safety margin for those slow to the cellar.

March 5, 2020 - my last bottle, time has been good to this. slight bricking at the rim. Slight funk when first opened, then blew off over a few minutes. Quite aromatic with blackberry, black cherry, currant, spice, vanilla, earth. Still lots of fruit with black berry, black cherry, spice, currant, earth, chocolate. Medium bodied with a long smooth finish.

February 7, 2019 - Sensational Napa cab. The fruit was still fresh, oak was in balance. Showing some complexity, but overall just a great bottle.
