March 29, 2021 - Still hanging on but definitely losing some of its lustre - fruit still there but giving way to cigar box, tobacco, slight brett elements but in a good way.

November 26, 2020 - A more fruit forward Barbaresco that has peaked its acidity, but has mellowed into a gracious queen. The nose shows faint dried flowers, wet earth from an herb garden and hint of minerals. The fruit is still jammy, but refined; hint of violets or licorice. The mineraltiy shows through as well. The finish is not as dry as a typical Langhe wine, but lingers beautifully. With a board of charcuterie you can’t really do better.

January 9, 2020 - I've often heard wine geeks compare Piedmont wines to Burgundy. Now I understand. This wine has a forthcoming nose, and a palate packed with fruit with not a bit of weight. Long finish. Flavor profile diverges from Burgundy. Palate is dominated by licorice notes, affirming the place of origin. I disagree with the cellar tracker consensus that this should have been drunk by now. This wine will last on it's plane of maturity, but will not improve. Drink now and enjoy! Addendum: Day 4 at 55 degrees, this wine is still going strong. No hurry to drink up.

January 31, 2017 - Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Alpharetta, GA): Sediment, deep crimson core, lighter rim; rose, dried cherry, cedar, slight cinnamon, licorice, menthol, sandalwood, very fine mouth filling tannin, long classic Italian finish; called '04 Il Poggione as the tannins were firm and Nebbiolo like but color didn't suggest Nebbiolo; very nice.
