February 13, 2024 - A rather massive tempranillo from FM. It has a ton of character and is deep, rich, and brooding early on. Cassis, dark fruit, smoke, espresso, smoke and floral notes are wrapped in mouth puckering tannins. After about 2 hours, the wine opened up considerably, the tannins softened and the wine began to soar. The floral and smoked meat characteristics came out and the finish was long and silky. The tannins were still in full force but fleshier. I'd give this vintage another 5 years until it really rounds into shape. It will be stunning and probably deserving of a higher rating as all the elements come together.

February 6, 2024 - 90-minute decant. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, sugar plum, anise, Mexican wedding cookie, and peppered brisket. Very smooth, dry, spicy, full bodied palate, with stealthy, lingering acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

As others have noted, this is Syrah-like and completely different from ‘15. It’s well made and paired very well with burnt ends from Cooper’s. Not at all my style.

January 3, 2023 - Purple in color. 14.9% ABV. Savory nose of black fruits, charred meats and bacon fat. Full bodied with perfect acidity. Rich and lush with copious dark fruits. Black cherry, black raspberry, coffee and minerals on the palate. Nice length on the finish. Still young, dark and brooding with gritty tannins on the finish but enough fruit to keep things compelling. Best over the next 3-5 years.

    October 23, 2022 - Ready to drink.
    Unique character.

January 29, 2022 - Decanted for several hours the first night, but all this bottle offered was wood on the palate. Night two revealed fruit attempting to nudge all the oak aside with some semblance of success later in the evening. No sense of the varietal. Hopefully this will turn into something better.
