November 2, 2022 - Rich, spiced and opulent with good power plus an overt sweet note, but slightly lacking depth or nuance. Enjoy in the near-term while fresh.
October 27, 2022 - A: deep ruby with some garnet at rim
N: pronounced intensity aromas of black pepper, baking spice, ripe black plum, black cherry, licorice, earth, clove, wet leaves, charred wood
P: dry, medium (+) acidity, medium (+) fine, smooth tannins, high ABV, full body, medium (+) intensity flavors, medium (+) finish.
C: very good wine, balance of acidity/tannins with ripe fruit, some complexity and intensity, concentration is somewhat muddled and the alcohol is not fully integrated (slight burn on finish). Nitpicking here only, is a very pleasant wine. Drink now.
October 17, 2022 - Three hour decant, clearly a shiraz on the nose, with dark fruit and oak elements popping. The palate is both tannic and acidic, in good balance, with tart and dry going on simultaneously. This has a long finish that coats your mouth everywhere.
September 8, 2022 - Nice and juicy, with smooth tannins and lots of black fruit.
September 2, 2022 - nose: tannins and bitterness, red fruit
taste: coats the tongue, tannic and a little acidic, tart, a bit of alcohol burn, no fruit to really speak of, but mocha. hopefully it opens up!!! it has only been open 20 min…
April 15, 2022 - .Great 🍷, I would say it's perfect for like Sherlock Holmes type of person. With each sniff, with each sip you discover, uncover something else, down deep in secret dungeons. Smell is strong and I mean it and I knew it, when I poured it to my decanter, even from a distance I smelled this and that.
What is "this and that"?
Easy to detect: blackberry, mocca ( a lot!), red cherry, red cranberry, flowers, graphite.
Should I smell it or should I drink it? Well, let's drink it.
Velvety, milky structure, perfect mix of acidity and tannins from beginning to the end.
Again mix of red and black fruits ( how do they do it?!)
I would give this wine better score, but it has no spice and finish is too short.
Well something for something.
One very IMPORTANT thing: I drunk it on cool side of red wine or no more than 13 - 14 °C
March 3, 2022 - Fresh powerful Shiraz nose, Deadarm downcast barrels end up in here. Still tight and powerful to it. Funny, tight on the cracking. Needs a bit of air.
November 30, 2021 - Very classy! We reckon the viognier gave a slight sweetness to the fruit. Really enjoyable.
July 21, 2021 - 67 Pall Mail summer party (St James’s Square, London): Found this a bit tannic and astringent.
June 17, 2017 - Freshened or lightened version of classic mclaren vale Shiraz due to the unique blending of viognier which makes this wine much more versatile than a 100% Shiraz. Still full bodied though, savory jammy factored toned down.
