April 29, 2024 - I really enjoyed this. Big and very structured but approachable at this stage. Very dusty and leathery. Lots of fruit but not exactly traditionally fruity. This wine is like drinking an old leather bound book in a stately library.

The 15.5% alcohol is definitely obvious but the wine is well balanced in how big and over the top it is already.

This has a lot of time left and will improve with time but definitely worth a sip now if you’re curious.

February 7, 2024 - Delicious bottle. Big fruit and body, with enough acidity and tannin to keep it from being too heavy. The alcohol seemed fairly well hidden to me. This bottle went well with chicken parm and was as good the next day. In hindsight, I would let this rest a while longer, but it was a fun wine either way.

September 23, 2022 - A nose of some red fruit and some spice, ruby in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, licorice and spice on finish, still young. www.winelx.com

May 22, 2022 - Amar K event at his house

A larger than life sagrantino. Heavy round and alcoholic in nature. Pains me to have had this after the Peter Michael Sauvignon Blanc. I a man sure it is better than this showing.

January 26, 2022 - A big and intense wine with gripping tannin, rich dark fruit on day one. Softer on day two and becomes a bit more elegant .

January 7, 2022 - Rand says, “So you go visit your grandmother and in the bedroom where you’re staying is an old chest of drawers. You open one of those drawers and it emits a dusty, musty, cedar smell.” That is the nose. The palate is overwhelming, The 15.5% alcohol is obvious. We have trouble trying to think about what kind of food it could possibly go with. We are eating chicken, Italian sausage, and hot peppers, and it barely puts a dent in this wine. It competes with food more than compliments it. An alcoholic monster with tannins that are a little bit like chewing on a small piece of tree bark.

We certainly wouldn’t buy it again, but it is impressive if you like big, bold, overpowering, alcoholic, heavy wines that will conquer any food you put it in the ring with.
