November 9, 2017 - Retailer tasting. The wine was medium garnet in colour. It was pretty closed initially and only opened up slowly to reveal sweet fruit, dried herbs and gamey notes on the nose and palate, with medium-level acidity and tannin and good persistence. The wine was not showing well tonight, but had good balance and length and seemed to have more to offer than it was able to show in the p&p tasting environment today. I would recommend decanting the wine for at least two hours. 89+ for now, with potential to earn a slightly higher score with extended decanting or further aging.

November 7, 2017 - This one took a while to come around. Gamey and peppery, it is improving with time. Dark purple and brooding the elements are integrating well and forming a cohesive wine. Seamless entry and exit, this wine is great right now, and will be better with a little more time for the secondary traits to emerge.

October 5, 2017 - Mike G. does Cleveland (Landerwood Pool & Tennis): From Magnum. This took a while to open and kept getting better all night (I checked in on a couple times later). Deep ruby in color. The nose is very nice. Earthy with plums, dark cherries, some spice and leather. On the palate, this has a nice complexity to it. I would think at or damn close to peak. Great texture and balance. Layers of black cherries and plums with minerals/rocks and spice. Long finish.

September 16, 2017 - No detailed notes. Seemed a bit tighter than the bottle from April. Hints of iodine this time on the palate may contribute to that sense of "tight".

August 30, 2017 - Very fruity and young, lots of dark fruit on the nose. Shorter finish than '89. Typical if a bit hot for Beaucastel.
