April 13, 2023 - savory and old-world with a cold, pencil-lead core that I really enjoyed. in a nice spot in its maturity curve - in balance to keep going and developing for a long time, most likely, but no regrets at all enjoying it now.

September 28, 2022 - Solo bottle, so there’s never a “right” time to open. Tonight seemed good enough, especially with the recent Desire Lines release. A short pour right on opening was all dark berries and warm, loamy earth. An hour in the decanter added roasted meat, as well as savory elements of mushroom and soy. Tannins are still submerged beneath the flavor extract. I wish I had a case to watch this evolve, as it bears a striking resemblance to some of the best ESJ Wylie-Fenaughty Syrahs which have aged into beauty.

March 4, 2022 - Purple to dark garnet at the edge in color and clear in the glass. The nose was fabulous at first pour with aromas of ripe blackberries, smoked brisket, tar, and violets. Even though the nose was great the palate was pretty closed, but after an hour it really opened up to tart blackberry, cherry, and pepper. Medium(+) in body with great acidity and grippy tannins. Still drinking very young for 8 years old.

March 3, 2022 - Decanted. Nose of red plum, salumi, and black pepper. Soft black cherry and black plum fruit with cocoa notes on the palate. Leather tannins on the finish with plum and wet stones. Based on memory this seems to be aging quickly - drink in the next couple years.

October 20, 2021 - PnP. Nose of black cherry, cranberry fruit, and a hint of pumpkin spice. Fleshy dark plum and dark chocolate flavors with cinnamon and light meaty notes. Marble-smooth tannins on the finish with red fruits, spiced cherry, and a touch of oak. This wine seems more tame than we recall it tasting last year, with surprisingly little pepperiness. Improved with air so give it a decant next time.
