November 23, 2018 - Drinking beautifully 17 years out. Deep opaque purple color, nose of black plum jam with notes of cedar after 90-minute decant. Still a black fruit-forward wine with silky tannins and long ripe finish with touches of pine, mint and tobacco. Sure wish I had more.

June 15, 2018 - Blind 2001/2002 Cab Tasting (Chez Hughes): Double blind paired with the 02, and the Forman 01/02. Far, far more modern than the Forman wines. Nose has creamy rich fruit with lots of oak toast. Palate follows suit with rich, dense, creamy fruit. Mocha throughout. Ripe and alcoholic finish. Not my cup of tea, but better than the 02 version of the same.

June 15, 2018 - California Cabernet 2001/2002 Blind Tasting (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Double blind in 01/02 Cali Cab tasting. Fun and rich flavors and aromas, even if ultra modern and a bit oakier than I'd hope/ expect at this age. Slightly one dimensional. Correctly ID'ed this as '01.

February 17, 2018 - Nice color. Two hour decant. I was just surprised how light and underwhelming this was. Very nice palate with dark berry and all good. Just not a lot there. Bought at auction. No signs of bad storage or over-age, but I think it’s just fading. (Interesting reading older reviews re this being huge.). Remembering better bottles. Drink up!
