Community Tasting Notes 3

October 8, 2020 - Good, fun; organic farming. I was expecting something a bit more lean, with acids that tended toward severe if not fully so. Instead, I got a medium-bodied wine with gently curves, supple lines with subtle admixtures of place and time. Nothing pretentious here, but it's not blowsy or overly simple, either. Having visited this farm just before the Covid lockdown, I came away surprised with the presence of so much red soil, i.e. think Coonawarra, and by the vineyards' close proximity to the sea. A fascinating grape even if this rosato is not meant to be fascinating, rather its meant to be fun, and a solid partner to food and/or by itself. Agglomerated cork, 12,5% abv. While technically in the 'dry' category, I'd guess 5 or 6 g/l of rs. Would gladly drink again but next time I'll try it with shrimp fra diavolo. A QPR winner best enjoyed over the next year or two. recommended+

June 26, 2020 - Tastes of strawberries and cream with some herbal notes on the finish. Unashamedly buxom and all the better for it.

June 16, 2020 - I love a darker Rosé, or Rosato I should say, this is made from Gaglioppo, a grape grown in several Italian regions but most notably in Calabria; Italy’s ‘toe’. This one’s made from organic grapes and hails from Ciró, on the eastern side and is the heartland of Calabrian Gaglioppo.
Fairly simple, and slightly confected, but wonderfully summery, with aromas and flavours of rose, strawberry, raspberry and red plum. Straddling the dry / off dry fence, with medium (12.5%) alcohol (I would have preferred a little dryer but that would have bumped up the alcohol by at least +1%), medium acidity +, it’s medium bodied with medium + intensity and a medium finish. Good job!
